A meeting regarding a proposal by Rogers Communications for a cell phone tower on New Toronto Street (at the Daily Bread Food Bank) is taking place this October,

A description of the meeting is as follows:

Rogers Communications Inc. “Rogers” constantly strives to improve coverage and network quality for the sake of their clients.  In the recent past, due to subscriber feedback, our Network Planning and Engineering departments have become aware of coverage deficiencies within the Toronto Police College and surrounding neighbourhood in-building coverage deficiencies in south Etobicoke. The proposed site, 191 New Toronto Street (The Daily Bread Food Bank) is anticipated to achieve the necessary engineering coverage objectives for our network. Within the property of the Daily Bread Food Bank, Rogers is proposing a 30m telecommunication tower will be located behind the warehouse building, approximately 82 metres from the south of the property boundary on New Toronto Street, and 180 metres from abutting residential along 6th Street. The public meeting is intended to allow the local residents the opportunity to discuss concerns with Rogers while respecting the federal government’s exclusive jurisdiction in the siting and operation of wireless and data systems.
